I’m here to highlight the giving nature of Moms and also to highlight the danger associated with that.
You know as moms, we are hard-wired to serve. We really want to do right for our kids and do right by them.
Unfortunately, very often, in our quest to do this we don’t allow our kids the right to grow and to develop and to take on some things by themselves.
How do you know if you are guilty of that?
For me, the one big red flag is … if you find yourself doing things for your child because it’s just ‘easier’ to do them yourself than to teach him or her to do it for themself.
That’s a really big red flag.
I know in the short term we are all rushed, we’re all busy and it does seem like the path of least resistance.
We are all guilty of taking it at times.
What I would like to invite you to do is, if you find that you are on this path, to ask yourself “In whose best interest is this are you really and truly acting?”
And ask “How can my child potentially be better off? Be more confident and grow… if I allow him or her to learn that skill for themself.”
Think about that today and see if there’s something that you could teach them to do for themself.
Let me know how it goes.
I’d love to talk to you soon.
